A Little Vigilante Safeguarding Our Health —— A Diary
Monday, Sept. 1st, 2014, Sunny
Today is the first day of our 2014 school year, and I was one of the ten students on a special duty: The Little Vigilantes of Health (LVH). Our responsibilities involved checking at the school gate to make sure that the dress code was observed, which included proper school uniform and shoes, the right tying of the red scarves, and the removal of hats and sunglasses. As the LVH, we were also required to make sure that everyone had brought along a small cup for his / her water consumption, so that the students could drink boiled water rather than a cold one from the taps.
In addition to that, we were checking the fingernails were trimmed and no chewing gums. We were to stop those students who played football in the corridors and classrooms to prevent hurting people and breaking window glasses. The teachers smiled at us, all schoolmates respected us. We were very happy that day, thought were also a bit tired at the end.

Keeping a diary in English is one of the effective ways to improve our English writing ability. It can help us develop the habit of thinking in English. Almost all students don’t know what to write in English at the beginning. I had the same experience. But I just keep writing down everything happened to be in my mind. I will turn to a dictionary if I come across any words that I don’t know how to express. The second day, I just do the same.
Then I keep on writing every day. Maybe the things I write at first cannot be called an article, or even a sentence. It doesn’t matter. I do understand that it needs time to get myself used to thinking in a different way. Time can prove my efforts will not end in vain.

The lucky-number has become increasingly popular in daily life of mordern socialty. For example, the number eight means big money which people like most, while the number four means death.
Some people believe lucky numbers so deeply that they will afford a telephone with numbers without four and others which is bad in their mind. They argue that the lucky-number really can bring good luck, and, at least, no evidence testify they can not.
As far as I am concerned, there is no such relationship betwwen the numbers and lucky, for the reason that numbers theirself are given certain meaning for the purpose of application of mathmetic. And, In addition, man should not depend on lucky which, in their mind, the numbers gives them.

A diary :A Visit to Hangzhou
On 4th of July last year, I, together with my parents, paid a visit
toHangzhou, the most beautiful city inChina. Of the places I visited
there, theWesternLakeand the Leifeng Pagoda which are closely related
to the Chinese legend “The Tale of the White Snake” interested me most.
TheWesternLakecovers an area of about 300 square km. On the bank
of the lake, there are green meadows, tall trees with green leaves
and beautiful flowers with different colors. The water of the lake is
clear, almost without any pollution. People can see golden fish
swimming freely in the lake. On the water surface, passengers are
cruising either in yachts, or boats with different shapes. On one side
of the bank we saw Duan Qiao, the so calledBrokenBridge
where according to the Chinese legend, the ancient Chinese lovers the
White Snake and Xu-xian met and were engaged.
The Leifeng Pagoda is located by the side of theWesternLakeand
was built about 1000 years ago on a terrace of about 30 meters high.
The pagoda itself is about 60 meters tall and is in the shape of octagon.
It has 8 flying eaves, each is covered with red glazed tiles which are
shining in the sun. Inside the pagoda, the pillars and beams are
all marvelously gilded and the inner walls are painted with beautiful
pictures. All these pictures are telling the story that these two places
are closely related to the story of the White Snake.
I was amazed by these two places of beautiful scenery and ancient
relics. If I have time this year I’ll go there to visit the places again.

Today is Sunday and it is a fine day.My friend and I took a trip to the zoo in our city.Early in the moring,we met at the school gate and started off at about 8:00am.We went by bus and got to the zoo at about 8:30.There were many people in the zoo,men and women,boys and girls were everywhere.We went to the monkey hills to watch the monkeys first.They were very cute,jumping here and there.Then we went to see the elepants.There were several elephants,and all are very big,lying on the ground.Later we saw some tigers that are very violent with a very big mouth.
We were glad to see so many animals though we were tired.
On the other hand, the commercial centers will distract students’ attention from their study. The shop, the theater and other shops have built in some campus, it makes the students can’t focus their minds, they just want to finish their class and then go shopping. The original purpose has been forgotten by the students.
