1. My Dream Job
I have a dream, I want to be a singer when I grow up. I like singing because it makes me happy and I can sing for many people. I think they are very happy to listen to me sing the song. I hope I will be a singer in the future.
2. The Teaching Profession
Being a teacher has always been my dream. I want to be a teacher because I like playing with children. The children are very lovely. If I play with them, I think I will be younger. I hope I will be a teacher and I can play with children then.
3. My Aspiration for a Career
Every individual faces the problem of choosing an occupation after graduating from university, which is of great importance in one's whole life. An appropriate occupation makes a man work with vigor and zest. Besides, it is beneficial for both the individual and the country.
To make an advisable choice, a graduate should take into account at least three aspects, namely, individual's interest, the demand of the society, and future prospects. Only when these three aspects are connected can a man show his ability and talent to the best advantage. If the three factors conflict, the former should give way to the latter, for it is interests that stimulate one's vigor and potentials.
In regard to my choice in the future, I want to work as an interpreter. I am keen on learning foreign languages, English in particular. Moreover, in the contemporary society, international exchange in economy and culture has been growing significantly. However, competent interpreters are far from enough. So I am determined to be a qualified interpreter.
4. The Choice of a Lifetime
Everyone has his dream job. For me, I want to be an artist. I show great interest in drawing. I like it very much. I am going to be famous when I grow up. Then how can I do that? I will finish my college. Then I will find a part-time job for a year or two to save some money. And I will move to Paris. I will learn to speak French at the same time. I am going to hold an art exhibition in the future. Because I want to be rich. I will buy a big house for my parents. I am sure my dream can come true one day. Because I believe a saying "Nothing is impossible for a willing heart." What about your dream? Tell us.
5. On Job-hunting Priorities
When a graduate hunts for a job, he has to take the priority issue of a few significant factors into consideration, such as the pay, the specific field, and the location.
Graduates give priority to different elements. Some graduates think the pay should take the first place, since they have been spending the money of the family all the time, and it's time to do something as the reward to other family members. Besides, a high pay usually means a relatively high position in the company. Some would prioritize their major as the No. 1 element, or it would be a big waste of what they have learned in college. Meanwhile, the major chosen for college most of the time reflects their interest and preference. Still others offer the pride of place to the location of the job. They believe big cities like Beijing or Shanghai will provide more opportunities, or a place close to hometown will furnish more convenience for the graduate and his family since most families now have one child only.
As to me, the ideal is the three elements combined together. But when I have to take a choice, I would pick up the best choice close to my family since "East, west, home is the best."
6. Vocational Education or College Education?
The number of people who take the college entrance examination has been decreasing these years. Some people consider vocational education an advantage to job-hunting, while others argue that a college diploma is more important. In my opinion, college education is more advisable for most people.
First, college education is systematic, and students can learn a lot in many aspects. Unlike vocational education, which always focuses on just one job skill, college education enables students to develop different potentials.
Second, to obtain a higher degree, such as a master's degree, one has to go through college education to a bachelor's degree first. In a society where any job skill may be outdated quickly with the appearance of new technologies, the limitations of vocational education prove even more serious. Only college education can prepare us for future challenges.
7. How to Choose a Occupation
How to choose an occupation, I think many people think this question. I'd like to give my some opinions.
First, know yourself. Examine your values, interests, and skills, your qualifications and background. This self-knowledge helps you both expand and narrow the options that you are considering at any given point in life.
Second, know your occupation. How much do you know about what's really available to you and what it's like to do it?
Third, make the link. How does this fit with what you know about yourself? Prospects Planner can help you see the relationship and develop a short list of ideas worth exploring in detail.
Fourth, make a decision. Once you have clarified your self-knowledge and examined potential occupations, it is time to make a decision. A useful tool to assist you in this process is this model of the decision-making process. For more detailed help, see the Career Decision Guide.
Fifth, do you need more help? There are many other resources and more information at our Careers Service to help you in this process. You can also get more help by phoning a careers adviser on Graduate Careerline or emailing a question to an adviser on Graduate Questiontime.
8. My Ideal Career
I have always dreamt of becoming a teacher. The reasons for my choice are varied and sound. Firstly, teaching is a profession that allows me to make a difference in the lives of students. It gives me the opportunity to shape their minds and impart knowledge, which is a rewarding experience. Secondly, I have always been passionate about subjects like mathematics and science, and I believe that I can inspire students to develop an interest in these fields.
Furthermore, the flexible schedule of a teacher allows me to pursue my hobbies and engage in personal development. The interaction with students keeps me young at heart and provides a sense of fulfillment. Lastly, the holidays and summer breaks offer me the chance to travel and explore new places, enriching my life experiences.
In conclusion, my ideal career is to become a teacher. I am confident that with dedication and hard work, I can make a positive impact in the lives of my students and contribute to society.
