Firstly, advertisements direct people on their consumption. Since there are lots of advertisements of products that attract people so much that people have a very dee impression on them, chances are high that people will buy what they have watched on TV as they are going shopping, whatever the product is good or bad. Dur to the memory and the trust on advertisements, people are affected so much by them.
Secondly, advertisements add new things to people's lives. There exists lots of new things or methods, such as of transportaiton and cooking, in advertisements. Thus, people can be told that much more methods of lives they areable to have a try. Over days, people will accept the new method and enjoybetter lives.
Based on what I stated above, I am confident that advertisements have influenced people's behaviors and lives.
Nowadays ther are a lot of false advertisements in society. They have caused many harms to society. Generally, their harms can be listed as follows.
First, they exaggerate the functions of the goods they advertise and mislead consumers. Second , some advertisements contain obscene contents and bring about spiritual pollution. Third, they seriously damage the credit of businesses because the shops which sell those goods will be distrusted and even considered the conspirators of those advertisers by consumers.
Personally, I am usually vigilant against any advertisements and so I have never been taken in. We will start by talking about the merits of advertising. Firstly, advertising is informative, which provides the customers with a quick access to the product needed. Take me as an example. I am a new resident of Guangzhou, a metropolitan city located in the south of China. At the very beginning when moving to this city, I did not have a clue about where to purchase all of the necessities for my newly-bought flat. Thanks to the ads on TV and in newspapers, amazingly almost all of the items ranging from furniture to household appliances were settled within a week. Secondly, consumers can expect to have a best price by comparing and contrasting the prices and specifications of the commodity advertised by different suppliers.
However, advertising involves some defects and I would like to list two of them herein. Initially, the popularity of advertisements has been growing along with the increased layout of design as well as showing up in the marketplace more frequently. The cost will definitely be passed on to the customers.
